Since the 1950s, Akhalwaya’s has been a melting pot of cultures – American, British, European, Malay, Indian and African – in Fordsburg. This unique combination of cultures influences everything from our ideas, dress and, of course, food. Zulfikar’s, Minty’s, Pinky’s and Akhalwaya’s stores were born and have prospered ever since, serving patrons from a range of cultures. Our food is a fusion of Western and Indian flavours, making Akhalwaya’s the home of delicious, great-tasting meals and the true Rainbow Nation.
